Forget obscure elevator advertising that is tucked away in a corner digital screen or print display case. Making a big impact requires a big ad, and, in some cases, a little bit of shock value. I am yet to see elevator advertising in Canada that is similar to the one below. Is this a culture thing or more of a bylaw issue?

Captivate Network in Canada runs multiple ads in a small digital screen hoping to achieve some brand awareness for its advertisers with an elevator crowd that is captive for a maximum of 1 to 2 minutes, and some smaller companies based in Canada’s MTV cities (Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver) have a number of elevator print display cases for pizza and taxi numbers. Blah.

There is just no substitute to a well-planned creative campaign by a professional advertising agency. Click the picture below to enlarge. The campaign was created by advertising agency TBWA/RAAD, Dubai.

From AdBlogArabia. A Taekwondo school succeeds in capturing attention using innovative advertising. Consumers today are numb to traditional advertising mediums. Therefore, coming up with innovative ways to capture attention and deliver your message is becoming more of a necessity for effective advertising instead of a novelty.

JWT is the architect for this concept. Click the partial image below to see the full ad. JWT’s notes on the rational and effectiveness are below the picture.

Brief:

Shams Taekwondo School in Bahrain wanted to promote the school’s fifteen-year anniversary by glorifying the art and science of Taekwondo. The challenge was to portray the movements of the martial art in an artistic way, and yet still create interest in new classes.

Solution:

We (JWT) took well known Taekwondo stances and placed them on elevator doors in office and institutional buildings that have high volume of traffic. As the elevator opens and closes you see the flying kick stance in motion. The only copy placed next to the logo is the school’s telephone number.

Results:

As soon as the Elevator Kick was placed into locations, people stopped to look at the doors opening and closing. The Shams Taekwondo School received 15% more phone calls that week inquiring about classes. Weeks to come, the school increased classes by adding 4 more beginners classes a week.
