R.I.P. Luciano and Horashio

Opera icon Luciano Pavarotti passed away early Thursday after a battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Pavarotti’s last public singing performance took place during the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

Across the Atlantic, a Swan named ‘Horashio’ drew its last breath as the famed Italian tenor struggled for his. Found Tuesday, the body of elegant Horashio silenty floated in its home at the Halifax Public Gardens. If you close your eyes, you can hear a faint symphony among the garden oaks, a high C bidding farewell, and a see-you-soon.

Arrivederci, Luciano. Farewell, Horashio.

  1. hmm… Horatio… it just won’t be the same sitting in the Gardens, drinking a Starbucks in the sun watching just one swan… a sad day in Halifax.
