“Canadians are complacent and generally unwilling to take risks. Our culture is unwilling to accept the failures that are built into an environment that genuinely supports risk taking. Nor are we wholly comfortable with differentiation, success and excellence. This culture holds Canada back.”
Proclamations like the above round up the results of a harsh new report released Wednesday, June 13, by the Conference Board of Canada. A G&M article discusses the report, and representative of the Conference Board answered some questions about their report yesterday.
I am beginning to notice increased attention and criticism from within Canada to the issue of Canada’s risk-taking and its readiness to compete in a global market. Could this mean that change is coming?
